The Wild West: Galway

This morning we left Dublin for Galway, the third largest city in Ireland, which is clear across the country on the west coast.  Total travel time by bus: two and a half hours.  Galway is lovely, and feels a lot more like Ireland to me than Dublin did.

Our B+B is located a bit outside of the city.  After checking in, we walked through the suburb of Salthill on Galway Bay to get back downtown.  These are some shots from our walk along the seawall.  As I noted in my post about Dublin - no rain, despite some heavy clouds in the sky.

The lovely River Corrib runs through town and you can walk all along it.

In this picture are fly fishermen salmon fishing in the river.

Of course, lest you think from the pictures above that Galway is deserted on this bank holiday weekend, I can assure you that this is not the case.

And finally, wherever we go, we find beer.

Stay tuned to Chad's beer blog for what he's drinking and why he's so happy about it!

I'm on a stout hiatus in favour of the Galway Hooker.  No, not THAT hooker, this beer.  It's named after the traditional boats used around Galway and is an Irish Pale Ale.  It's fresh and hoppy and delicious!

More adventures to follow tomorrow!
