After three days of Jason and Anna's warm hospitality, yesterday we hit the tracks and took the train to Bruges. I will certainly miss the German flair for dramatic signs like these:
What was supposed to be a five hour journey with two transfers ended up taking six and a half hours with three. So goes Belgian train travel (according to all the Belgians we've talked to since). I guess what can you expect when your train comes graffiti-d. On the inside...
Our first transfer was at Lieges, which is apparently Belgium's bid city for the 2017 World Expo. I'm not sure if their huge new train station has anything to do with their bid, but we were certainly impressed.
And finally, I was lucky enough to find a train snack for all these transfers that was both nature-friendly and more than 99% okay. What a relief - thank you Belgian potato chip makers!
