Into The West

After an all-day gauntlet of taxi trips, on-foot border crossings and 5+ hour bus rides, we made it back to Bangkok.  Mission: rest up and get visas (required in advance) for our trip to Myanmar, the final serious "travel" portion of our trip.

Of course, Bangkok is nice for other things too.  Like consuming various curries and noodles on every corner.

6 huge doughnuts and sauce for $1.  Yes, I have gained some weight here.

Or fattening up on more street doughnuts with sweet, warm, green sauce.

We stayed at a place with a rooftop pool, which was a nice treat in the baking hot-season temperatures and humidity.

We're off to Myanmar tomorrow.  While travel to Myanmar was relatively rare and difficult as recently as last year, it appears travellers are starting to head there in droves.  But we still anticipate a country reflective of times past, with little connectivity to the outside world.  So you might not hear from us very much in the next couple of weeks, but that just means we're busy soaking up another culture.
